In order to join universities and colleges as assistant professor/professor you will have to qualify an entrance exam conducted by UGC.
The examination is known as NET- an acronym for National Eligibility Test of lectureship. Another similar exam is conducted on state level and is known as State Lectureship Eligibility Test- SLET.
To be considered eligible, you will need to score a minimum of 55% in your Masters degree examination. There is no maximum age limit to apply for this exam. It is conducted twice a year, in the month of June and December.
