What is ICWAI all about and its scope and job opportunities?


What is ICWAI? How to take next step after 12th in ICWAI? What is the use of ICWAI? Which all subjects are taught in ICWAI? Which type of jobs can I get after completion of ICWAI and in which all companies? How much time does it takes to complete ICWAI?

Candidate can pursue the courses offered by ICWAI after passing 12th class by taking admission in Foundation Courses.
Registrations for the ICWAI Courses are open throughout the year. The ICWAI Course provides the knowledge to manage business within the available resources.
Subjects for this courses will be regarding Accounting Subjects.
The ICWAI course is divided into three parts : 1.Foundation 2.Intermediate 3.Final
Duration of Foundation course is around 6 months, Intermediate is for duration of 12 months i.e around a year and final course is around 12 months i.e a year
After completion of ICWAI Course candidate can work as Internal Auditor, Accountant, Finance Manager & Assistant Finance Manager.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) which was formerly known as The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants (ICWAI) conduct ICWAI examination.

ICAI offers courses at three levels as :
  • ICWAI Foundation course
  • ICWAI Intermediate course
  • ICWAI Final course
  • Eligibility criteria
Candidate can apply just after completion of 10+2 from a recognized board. After intermediate completion, candidate become eligible to apply in ICWAI foundation course.
Each course has its own eligibility criteria.
ICWA Foundation course:
  • Candidates must have passed 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board and must complete the age of 17.
  • Candidates passed in the equivalent examination under:
  • . Central Government or National Diploma in Commerce
    Examination held by the AICTE
  • Any State Board of Technical Education under the
    authority of the said All India Council, or
  • Diploma in Rural Service Examination conducted by the
    National Council of Higher Education
ICWAI Intermediate course
  • Candidates must have passed 12th or equivalent examination and Foundation course of ICWAI or
  • Candidate must have passed graduation in any discipline except Fine Arts or its equivalent.

ICWAI Final course
  • The candidate should have passed 12th from a recognized board.
  • The candidate should be a Graduate in any discipline except Fine Arts or equivalent degree.
  • The candidate should have cleared all eight papers of CMA intermediate course.

Registration fee
ICWA Foundation Course – Rs. 4000/-
ICWA Intermediate Course – Rs. 20000/-
ICWA Final Course : Rs. 17000/-

Completion time.
If candidate start ICAI course from ffirst level ie ICWAI foundation course just after 12th then, it will take around 4 to 4.5 years to complete the course.
If candidate start ICAI course after graduation then it will take around 3 years to complete as graduation holders are exempted from some training,or exam etc.

Career scope

After completion of course, candidate can apply for any of the job roles:-
Finance Director
Managing Director
Cost Accountant
Chief Accountant
Chief Internal Auditor
Financial Consultant
Associate Professor
Accountant
Cost Controller
Chief Auditor
Managing Director
Financial Controller
