IES stands for the Indian Engineering Service exam. The exam is conducted on the annual basis by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted for recruitment of engineers is various goverment departments such as:
Indian Railway Service of Engineers. Central Engineering Service. Indian Defence Service of Engineers (Civil Engineering Posts). Indian Ordance Factories Services etc. A common mistake that people make is that IES covers PSU. This is incorrect since Public Sector Undertakings conducts their own entrance exams for jobs. The Indian Engineering Service is only related to various government departments and not PSUs. To apply for Indian Engineering Service, a candidate must have B.Tech degree in some specific streams. Engineering students of all branches are not allowed to appear for IES but only few branches such as: Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechanical engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering Only if you have completed Engineering in branches above, then you can appear for the Indian Engineering Service exam. Below are the other requirements. Eligibility 1. Candidate must be of Indian Origin. 2. A B.Tech degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or ECE. 3. Candidates in final year of B.Tech can also apply. 4. The age limit for IES exam is 21 to 30 years. 5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates. 6. SC/ST are entitled for 5 years relaxation in upper age limit. |
