Re: What is the minimum qualification required to qualify for IIT JEE?
First of all I would like to make you clear that IIT-JEE has been replaced by JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination ) which is a common entrance examination held by CBSE for selection of students for their B.tech/ B.E./ B.Arch / B.Planning course from top engineering colleges of India like IIT, NIT, IIIT, ISM and other CFTIs.
JEE includes for two stages which are known as JEE Main and JEE Advance respectively. --> For appearing in the JEE Main, one must have the qualifications given below :- * You must have the nationality of India with your age lying within 17 years to 25 years till the 31st December of that year in which you are appearing in the same examination.Further age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per the government norms. * You must have completed your higher secondary school degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% aggregate from a recognized board. Relaxation of 10% is allowed for reserved category candidates. --> And for appearing in the JEE Advance, one must clear JEE Main along with that much percentage aggregate in their board examination that keeps them among the top twenty percentile students of their respective board examination. A student is also allowed if he/she manages to secure 75% aggregate in their board examination. As far as you are concerned about the marks required for qualifying the same examination then it can not be said as it keeps on fluctuating on the basis of difficulty level of question, number of seats, number of applicants, etc.. But for having the idea of cutoff marks for different categories along with knowing the pattern of examination, etc. you can refer to the link www.cbse.nic.in. |

To give this examination you need to pass 10+2 with not less than 60% of marks in aggregate. You should have mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology/biotechnology at 10+2 level to be able to sit for this exam. The present system of shortlisting candidates has gone through a bit of change. IIT has decided not to give any weightage to the class 12 marksheet anymore. There are two stages of selection which one needs to cross. The JEE Main and JEE Advanced. You need to get at least 75% of marks in the JEE Main to qualify to the next stage. Those who are appearing for B.Tech course needs to sit for an objective type exam where there will be questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and for B.Arch course there will be questions on Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing. |
