UGC NET is the entrance exam for college lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. Conducted by the University Grants Commission, National Eligibility Test is only conducted for central government colleges.

It is not applicable for the state government college since each state conducts State Eligibility Test for the same. Only under the circumstances where state is not willing to conduct SET, it selects candidates on the basis of National Eligibility Test.

The National Eligibility Test is always conducted in June and December, unless there is some issue that could lead to delay in exam. A month in advance, the registration procedure begins for the National Eligibility Test. The registration is required to be done online for it.

NET Eligibility

1. You must be Indian citizen to apply.

2. You will have to complete post graduation to apply for NET.

3. With no less than 55 percent marks.

4. Although SC/ST will need 50 percent marks only.

5. During the final year also you can apply.

6. But in such situation there is timeframe of 2 years in which you should submit degree.

7. The subject for NET depends on your degree.

8. JRF candidate should be below 28 years to apply.

9. But there is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

10. SC/ST get 5 years relaxation for the same.

11. You should be minimum of 19 years old for lectureship.

12. At present there is no upper age limit for lectureship.
