Hi, i have done MBA with specialization in finance in 2006,with 69% marks, worked in banking sector for 6 years, now want to pursue UGC NET exam, am i eligible for applying to UGC NET and what preparation is required for qualifying UGC NET. Pls guide

There are no age restrictions for attending UGC NET (lectureship). But for JRF, the upper age limit is 28 years. You can have exam preparations in topics of general aptitude and subject related topics. Exam is conducted in objective model. Exam syllabus can be collected from UPSC portal. Reference books and previous year question papers can be used for study.

The acronym for UGC is University Grants Commission.

The acronym for NET is National Eligibility Test.

Yes, you are eligible for NET examination but only for Lectureship.

Lectureship has no age limit.

NET examination is conducted by UGC twice every year in the months of JUne and December.

NET examination is conducted for these following posts:-

* JRF(Junior Research Fellowship).

* Lectureship.

THe eligibility criteria required for the NEt examination for the Lectureship are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of post-graduation in any discipline with 55% marks from any recognized university.

* 50% marks required for SC/ST contenders.

* Age limit:- No age limit required for the Lectureship.

* Age relaxation:- 5 yrs for OBC and SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

Yes,why not you are 100 % eligible for the National Eligibility test conducted by the University Grants Commission twice every year.

But friend you should keep the given things in your mind:

>>You must have master's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 55% of marks in it.

>>5% relaxation in marks provided to obc and sc/st respectively.

>>At the age of the 31 years ,you will be eligible for the lectureship only .The maximum age for the Junior Research fellowship is 28 years.

From this year the NET examinations will be conducted in objective mode.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission.

This Exam is conduct twice time in a year in June and December month .

This exam is conduct for -

1)JRF
2)Lectureship post
3)PHD admission

The Educational Qualification required for NET exam is masters degree .Your masters degree marks must be above 55% . 5% marks relaxation is provide for SC/ST category.

Age criteria for NET Exam:-

i) Junior Research Fellowship :

Minimum Age : 21 Years.
Maximum Age : 28 Years.

Age relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PWD / OBC .

ii) Lectureship : There is no upper age limit .

Your are age now 31 years old so you are applicable for LS post , You are not applicable for JRF post .

As it is mentioned that csir net jrf is upto 28 years. Suppose one couldnt clear tge net and his age exceeds 28 yrs...is he not eligible to do ph.d?? Or he can do ph.d without qwalifying net and at any age limit?
