All stream candidates are eligible Civil Services examination. Stream is not a criteria in case of this exam. If you are a graduate in age limit of 21-32 years then you can apply in final year of bachelor's degree. |

Re: Will I be eligible for IPS if I take Computer Science for graduation?
In early days, most of the people became IPS(Indian Police Service) who completed their Engineering, MBA and other courses also.
So, there is no problem with the person who did Computer Science engineering. The first step to becoming an IPS wants to pass the Civil Service exam which is conducted by the UPSC once a year. This exam includes three stages, Preliminary, Main, and Interview. Preliminary exam() Duration is 2 hours, totally for 200 marks and question paper type is an objective and also multiple choice, candidates should write the paper I & II, minimum marks 33% to pass, failed candidates are not allowed to attend the Main exam and 1/3 marks will reduce for every question if the answer got wrong. Main Exam It has Nine papers, Two papers for 300 marks and other Seven papers consist of 250. Paper I- a candidate can select any one of the Indian languages. Paper II- in English. Other papers - General studies of Indian history, world geography, ancient epics, justice, statistics, economy, polity, and so on And the interview is the final stage. UPSC announced the IPS exam syllabus for the year 2018. Thank you. Last edited by Ramabai L; 30th January 2018 at 05:15 AM. Reason: To delete unwanted words |

Yes, you can take computer science in your graduation with out any doubt.
There is no such restriction on educational background. For becoming an IPS you need to posses a degree or equivalent from a recognized university and it will be better if you are a first class candidate. Even there is no limitation on the height of the candidate also for becoming an IPS. For any further queries visit the official website of UPSC or post your queries here. |
