I have failed in one subject in 12th CBSE Board in the year 2011. I appeared for compartment in the same year and I failed again. Then I left and joined a Diploma course. And now I want to clear my 12th. So is it possible to appear for the compartment of the failed subject after 9 years?

Having appeared in your CBSE Class 12th board examination in 2011, you are not eligible to appear in compartmental examination now to clear your backlog in one paper as a candidate is allowed to appear in compartmental examination held in the year in which he/she appeared in his/her Class 12th board examination and the year following the same and therefore in your case, the last attempt for clearing your Class 12th backlog paper through compartmental examination was in 2012.

No you cannot apply for your 12th compartment exam after 11 years.
One can only apply for compartment exam 3 times after his results have been announced i.e 3 successive times in 2 years.

Candidate can apply for CBSE Compartment Exam only in one or two subjects in which they are placed in the Compartment.
One has to clear compartment in the same year when they had applied
