You have completed B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering so you are eligible for GATE exam. You can not apply for Railway Recruitment Board through GATE exam.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

If you have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department then you are eligible for GATE exam.

There are no restriction for attempts in GATE exam. You can apply any number of time. There is no age criteria but your minimum age must be above 18 years.

No dear Railway Recruitment is not based on GATE Score since it recruits the candidates for various posts like Junior Engineers in different departments. Actually it consider the IES (Indian Engineering Services ) score for recruitment rather GATE score.

So If you are interested in Indian Railways then definitely you need to apply for Indian Engineering Services. And more over through GATE score you can apply for various PSU's.

PSU's like GAIL, SAIL, ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, BHEL, HCL , Power Grid corporation etc.,. But for Indian Railways it is been taking the candidates through IES itself. Actually It is conducted by " UPSC " once in every year.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
