There is no direct recruitment for the post of RTO.

If a person wants to become a RTO, he should do the following.

a. After plus 2 go for Polytechnic, mechanical or automobile engineering . Or you can finish BE Mechanical.

b. You should have a licence to drive all classes of vehicles.

c. One year experience in a work shop and knowing all the mechanical works thoroughly.

d. driving experience is an additional qualification.

Then wait for the service commission announcement for the position of Motor vehicles Inspector Grade II post in the Transport Department.

Once you get selected , work as a M V I Grade II for a minimum period of four years. You should write two tests after becoming a Motor vehicles Inspector to qualify for further promotion. a. Criminal procedure code. b. District office manual. Both the exams are conducted by the respective State Govt. You are allowed to write the exam with the help of books. No guides allowed. Write the exam as soon as possible.

You will get promotion as MVI Grade I officer.

Then work for another 8 to 9 years.

As and when vacancy arises, you will be elevated as RTO.

°°° Minimum educational qualification required to become Regional Transport officer is graduation in any discipline from a recognised Institute or university.

It is very important that you should fulfill the education qualifications and are in the age limit of the post you are applying for after that you have to prepare for the written examination and if you qualified in the written examination then, you will have to pass in medical examination followed by an interview after this you will be posted in the RTO office according to your state's procedure of appointment of RTO officers.
