To enroll in medical college, applicants must have a NEET score that meets the required cut-off marks. Individuals who are able to enroll themselves in the MBBS program at the Armed Forces Medical College have the chance to work as physicians or other medical professionals in the armed services.

You should have completed your high school education with science subjects, including biology, physics, and chemistry.

You will need to appear and clear medical entrance exams such as the NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) or AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) to get admission into a medical college.

After clearing the entrance exams, you will need to complete your MBBS degree from a recognized medical college in India.

You will need to appear and clear the Armed Forces Medical Services Exam (AFMC) to be eligible for commission in the military medical services.

Once you have cleared the AFMC exam, you will be commissioned as a medical officer in the Indian Armed Forces.

To become a military doctor in India, you will have to complete your MBBS degree and then join the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) as a commissioned officer. Here are the steps you need to follow to become a military doctor:

Step 1: Complete your 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects.

Step 2: Appear for and qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and secure admission in a recognized medical college to pursue MBBS.

Step 3: During your final year of MBBS, you can apply for the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). The notification for this is generally released in the month of April.

Step 4: After completing your MBBS, you will have to undergo a 4-week training program at the Officer’s Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Step 5: After successful completion of training, you will be commissioned into the AFMS as a Lieutenant and posted in one of the military hospitals in the country.

The eligibility criteria for SSC in the AFMS are as follows:

Age: You must be between 21 to 27 years of age.

Educational Qualification: You must have completed your MBBS degree from a recognized medical college and should have completed your internship.

Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.

Gender: Both male and female candidates can apply.

Physical Standards: You must meet the physical and medical standards set by the AFMS.

In addition to the above criteria, you will also have to appear for a written examination followed by an interview for selection. The examination will consist of objective-type questions on General Awareness, English Language, Reasoning, and Aptitude.

It is advisable to keep yourself updated with the latest notifications released by the Armed Forces Medical Services and prepare well for the selection process to become a military doctor.
