Only final year and pass-out batch are eligible for GATE exam. Gate score is valid for TWO years. There are no age criteria for GATE exam. The eligibility criteria for GATE Exam:- (a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent. (b) Bachelor’s degree holders in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics/ followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE. (c) Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for M Des program only) (d) Master’s degree holders in Physics with Electronics/Instrumentation (for M Tech programs). Thanks |

Re: Can one apply for GATE exam before completing graduation? Hi friend, Tips for crack GATE exam Be regular during preparation, consistency is the key to great preparation. You can join coaching institute for GATE coaching. Build your concepts and don't try to just read and memorize Online test series is also great idea for preparation. Divide syllabus and go through only topics that are given in syllabus. Good Luck..!! |

Re: Can one apply for GATE exam before completing graduation? hi friend... i am happy to tell u that u can apply for GATE exam before completing graduation..but not before your pre final year. some additional information regarding GATE... the gate examination is a single paper of three hour duration of the objective type..and negative marking is adopted for some question in the paper... the person who get less than 70 % will not get the score card.. the gate scores are valid for 2 years.. one can reappear for the gate exam if one is not satisfied with the earlier score... i hope these information helps you.. all the best for it.. thank you... |

Re: Can one apply for GATE exam before completing graduation? hi friend Iam happy to say that one can attempt for GATE while he is pursuing his 3 rd year of engineering. Once the rank you got in GATE will be valid for a period of 2 years. |

Well of course you can attempt for the GATE exam when your having your B.tech course in the third year itself as your score card is valid for 2 years hence you can make use of the score card even after completing your B.tech course. If your a GATE aspirant then you need to have a grip over all your core subjects related to your course from the first year itself.Since your from cse you need to concentrate on C&DS,JAVA,UNIX,BLUE J and all other programming languages. all the best |

Re: Can one apply for GATE exam before completing graduation? yea surely you can apply. and also if you secure a good position you will be able to take admission with this year score card. because GATE score card is valid for two years. the validity of score card which result will be published on 15th march 2011 will be two years that is 15th march 2013. so then you will be able to complete your B.Tech and you can use your GATE score card to take admission for M.Tech using this score card. so do not worry about this. be prepare for the GATE examination and fill up the form soon for this year. take GATE testes. you may take admission in any GATE couching center to be prepared for the examination. all the best. |

You can apply it in the pre-final year of your engineering.As you are in 5th sem u can apply it.The gate scores are valid for two years. you can also check the details at http://gate.iitm.ac.in. Remberer the last date ONLINE submission is 27 OCT 2010,18:00 hrs. OFFLINE submission last date is 02 NOV 2010. Good luck. |

Dear Friend, The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is held once in a year, but you can sit in GATE exam more than one time. actually,there is no limitation of appearing the GATE exam Definitely,you can apply after the 5th semester of your engineering degree. according to the GATE authority rule you are eligible after the 5th semester. Actually,most of the GATE syllabus is covered after the 5th semester. the result is valid for 2years,in which year you would get the score card. The GATE syllabus is little more huge,so as you are in 3rd year ,you should not attempt the whole syllabus, if you wanna score a very good score in GATE this year,you may follow the following tips,such as: 1:According to me,maintain a time table to allow yourself to devote minimum6-8hrs per day for the GATE. 2:Then try to collect the base or main material of any subject. 3:.Study the Syllabus as you can. 4:Try to solve the Previous questions papers. 5:Try to Solve more and more problems, 6:Try to discover more and more new own tricks by which you can easily solve any problem in a less time . 7:You can go for self tests. Good luck. |
