Highway Engineering paper is of 70 marks and is a fully compulsory paper with no choices. There are usually five questions all of which have smaller sub-parts, making it a lengthy paper. The marking for the questions range from five to seven and examinees have to answer the questions according to the marks denomination. The questions cover the entire syllabus and it’s not advisable to leave out topics while studying for the exam. Most of the questions also have diagrams. There are internal choices between questions. The questions are given on designing geometric elements on horizontal curve or two lane highway, instructions such as the length of the highway, radius, and super elevation curve etc are given to the students. Descriptive questions such as the causes of accidents, the measures taken by highway engineers in order to prevent accidents are also common question topics. Since most questions are descriptive, prior practice is needed. Below are attached some of the previous year’s question papers for your help.
