The paper on Power Quality Management has 5 compulsory questions with all of them together holding 70 marks. The questions however have internal choices. All questions carry 14 marks. Some of the questions are: what is understood by power quality issues, discuss some of the power quality issues in brief, explain the cause and effect with respect to power quality point of view, what is meant by the term “immunity of equipment”, discuss the various treatment criteria for a machine, discuss the common power frequency disturbances with suitable examples, discuss the harmonic sources like SMPS, Fluoroscent lighting and adjustable speed drives with suitable waveform and harmonic spectrum, discuss series and parallel resonance with respect to harmonics study, describe the objectives and procedures for performing power quality monitoring, define electromagnetic interference (EMI) and its essential elements of EMI, what is a distributed generation and elaborate its effect on the power quality issues, what are the different methods of distributed generation.
