It includes introduction to signals and systems (definitions, communication and control systems, classification, operations on signals - amplitude scaling, addition, multiplication, integration, precedence rule, Elementary signals, linear, non-linear, time variant, invariant, casual and non-casual systems), System analysis (system modeling, impulse response, convolutions and their computation, properties), System analysis in frequency domain using fourier transform (CT,DT series and transforms, analogy between CTFS,DTFS,CTFT,DTFT, interplay between time and frequency domain, limitations), System analysis in frequency domain using laplace transform (definition, properties, pole zero concept, ROC, application to LTI system analysis, inversion, numericals, signal analysis), Correlation and spectral density, probability, random variables and signals.

Paper Pattern: Candidate will be provided with a question paper containing 2 sections. Both of them will have 6 questions each out of which 3 should be answered from each section. They carry 16 marks each except the last two questions in the section II which carry 18 marks each. All are subjective type and questions may be subdivided.

Time allotted and Maximum Marks: Duration of the exam is 3 hours and the maximum marks are 100.
