Pune University Production Enginering 3rd Sem-Material Science Papers are based on the theoretical notions behind the subject and their practical application when a set of data is given. Questions can be asked on topics like how to calculate the critical resolved sheer stress of a single crystal, the differences between cold and hot working, what is meant by composite material and its various types exemplified, what is meant by technical terms like strain hardening, the various imperfections in crystals, point defect, mechanisms of plastic deformation, different kinds of steel based on the percentage of carbon in each and so on. Questions can be diagram based where the student is expected to provide a working diagram of various objects or processes with clear labelling. Questions may also be asked on topics like Microhardness tester, short note on magnetic particle test, the differences between FCC and BCC metals and so on.
