The union public service commission conducts an entrance examination for the special railway apprentice examination. The examination is basically conducted in order to recruit special apprentice engineers in the mechanical department of the Indian railways. The examination is divided in to two parts. The first part is a written test that is of 600 marks. The second part is personal interview comprising of 200 marks. The written test is divided in to 3 parts, paper I, Paper II, and paper III. Paper I consist of general ability in English, general knowledge. Paper II is test of physics and chemistry, and paper II is mathematics. The duration of the se three papers is 2 hours. Those who qualify written test are called for personal interview.
