NRI Student Medical exam eligibility and fee structure?

My daughter would be completing 12th grade from USA. We are citizen of India. However my daughter being a NRI student status, is she eligible to write Medical entrance exam in India? If yes, what are the process and procedure and fee structure for Medical course as a NRI student?

IS there any separate quota reserved for NRI student?

Yes, your daughter as a Non-Residential Indian (NRI) student, is eligible to write medical entrance exams in India such as NEET-UG. The admission process would typically involve the following steps:
  • Eligibility criteria: Your daughter needs to meet the eligibility criteria specified by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for NRI students, which includes minimum aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 12th grade, and minimum qualifying marks in NEET-UG.
  • Register for NEET-UG: Your daughter needs to register for NEET-UG through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Appear for NEET-UG: Your daughter needs to appear for NEET-UG, which is held annually in the month of May.
  • Selection process: Based on the marks scored in NEET-UG, students are shortlisted for admission to medical colleges in India.

It is recommended to check the latest guidelines and regulations on the official website of the MCI or NTA for any updates or changes to the admission process.

The fee structure for Medical courses for NRI students in India varies depending on the institute. In general, NRI students have to pay higher fees compared to Indian citizens. Some of the top medical colleges in India, such as AIIMS, JIPMER, and AFMC, have lower fees for NRI students compared to private colleges. However, the fees can still range from several lakhs to several crores of rupees, because fees for NRIs are chargedin USD compared to INR for residential students.

The seats offered under the NRI quota will only be allocated to the bonafide NRIs. The candidate must have passed the NEET examination of that year. The candidates applying under the NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relation to the financial supporter, a father, mother, sister, brother, uncle, or aunt.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
