1. Check eligibility requirements

-The student should have completed 18 years of age before joining a degree program.

-Medicine is a very competitive discipline and requires high grades, mainly in science subjects as well as English language.

-Chemistry is almost always essential and biology scores are often a mandatory requirement.

Some medical colleges require you to take tests such as the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) or the Bio Medical Admissions Test (BMAT). It depends on your college which exam scores they ask for.

2. Register for BMAT or UKCAT

-The Bio Medical Admissions Test (BMAT) is a subject specific admission test taken by applicants to medicine, veterinary and other related courses.

-The UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) is a part of the selection process for a lot of UK medical and dental colleges to help them choose among the best applicants applying to the course.

3. Register for IELTS exam

-International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required to be taken for the purpose of getting admission into UK colleges.

-The exam assesses the ability of test-takers to communicate in the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.

-You can take IELTS exam with British Council up to once a week. The British Council for test dates is 48 days per year.

5. Documents required

-Attested copies of mark sheets of class X and XII or any other diploma

-Academic reference letters from professors who have taught you most recently

-If you have work experience then letters of recommendation from the employer/manager
-who can comment on your professional abilities

-Statement of Purpose

-Resume

-Photocopied score reports of IELTS/UKCAT/BMAT

-Proof of funds

4. Complete UCAS application

-Applications are made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).

-It is a common entrance form which submits your application to the colleges of your choice. The deadline for application through UCAS is October 15.

-The UCAS application form should be complete and accurate, as the medical colleges do not accept late applicants. You will be required to include a personal statement and an academic letter of reference.

After these, the college will contact you if your application is shortlisted. You will be notified by the university and if selected, they will send the Letter of Acceptance.
