Even though Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University came into existence in the year 1989, the seed for the development of this university was sown in the year 1876 itself. This is because in the year 1989, the Madras Veterinary College was converted as Agricultural School to offer certificate and diploma courses in the field of animal and veterinary sciences.
