IUCAA and NCRA TIFR are two most important centers of research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. IUCAA NCRA Admission Test (INAT 2010) is one such exam conducted by IUCAA and NCRA TIFR. It aims at providing a research scholarship (Ph.D. Program) to suitable candidates in the various programs like hypothesis, observation and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Eligibility Criteria

Any candidate who has completed his Masters in any of the areas like Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics can apply for the entrance exam. Candidates who have completed Bachelors in Electronics, Bachelors in Technology or Masters in any of these areas can also apply for this entrance exam. Those in their final area can also apply.

Application Procedure

Candidates can apply online or by post. Application forms are available in the official website. Thereafter short listed candidates will be called for a written test. Candidates who are not based in Pune will be reimbursed their travel expenses. Candidates having first class degree can also appear for the written exam by submitting an official photo identity. For walk-in candidates, travel allowances will be compensated as per rules only to those candidates who succeed for the interviews.

Online Method

Candidates can apply through online. The application forms are available in the official website. They will receive a confirmation mail for the same. This mail will also have an attachment with a confidential assessment form. Candidates have to take two print-outs of received form and send directly to the administrative officer, IUCAA, Post Bag 4, Ganeshkhind.

Offline Method

Candidates if applying through post can send application form along with self addressed envelope (approximate size 15 cm x 10 cm) with a postage stamp of Rs 15/-.

Filling the Application Form

A few important things to be kept in mind while filling the form.

• Before posting the application form, the candidates must ensure that they have finished the form with all the relevant information.
• Details like the attested photograph, complete postal address to which the communication is to be sent, the correct STD code and your Mobile and Phone numbers, correct e-mail address, Test City Code etc have to be checked again.
