No, you are not eligible to appear for RTO on the basis of diploma qualification.

The required minimum educational qualification is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

So, you have to pursue and complete the bachelor degree to appear for entrance examination conducted for recruitment as RTO through State PCS.

After Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, you can apply for Regional Transport Officer (RTO). The minimum educational qualification required to apply for this post is a candidate must have passed a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized board. Diploma candidates are also eligible for some positions. The minimum age to apply is 19 years and the maximum age is 37 years, however, there would be a 5-year age relaxation given to the backward classes.

There are recruitment in RTO in different streams like:-

2 - Clerical Service
3 - Assistant Engineer

Diploma candidates are eligible for clerical post because academic qualification required is 12th passed or its equivalent.

The age limit is 18 to 37 years.

You can apply for RTO examination of your state.

RTO refers to Regional Transport Officer and to be an RTO officer one is required to qualify State PSCs.

Further, for appearing in any state PSCs the minimum education required is a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

So, just after completion of your Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course, you are not eligible for appearing in State PSCs and therefore to become an RTO officer as Diploma in engineering degree course is not equivalent to a bachelor degree course.

For criteria other than Education requirement, you can refer to the official website of respective State PSCs.
