In my opinion no other book is as good as 'Tata mcgraw & hill's' for preparing for mathematics of gate.

It is the best book ever,for gate exam.

Yo can also opt for books of 'upkar prakashan'.

you need not read the entire syllabus,
just go through the previous years papers and you will find that there are many questions being asked from some particular chapters like differential equations and numerical methods,concentrate more on those chapters than others,

I think Tata mcgraw & hill's is the best for GATE but you can consult with GATE FORUM for some suggestions...

You can follow the books of Erwin Kreyszig,G.S grewal for GATE exam.

For GATE Engineering Mathematics the best book is by RK Kanodia. This book contain solved problems from all previous GATE exam of all branch and every problem is exam problem chosen from IAS (mathematics) GATE mathematics.
Every problem has full solution and syllabus and nature of problem is specific to gate exam

Yes you are eligible to write the GATE exam while pursuing the 3rd year B.Tech with Electrical Trade. Only thing you have to do is join the Coaching center like like ACE to crack the GATE. The GATe exam is commencing on 14th Feb 2012. It is better you write the Exam when you are in 4th year, as you get sufficient knowledge about the subject.
