Eligibility Criteria for IES

The IES (Indian Engineering Service) exam is conducted by the UPSC every year..

In order to appear for the IES exam..the candidates must satisfy the following conditions :-

1) You should be a B.Tech degree holder or in the final year of your B.Tech in any of the following streams

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
Electrical Engineering

2) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts permitted for the general category is 4,for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

Since you do not belong to any of the above mentioned streams hence i am really very sorry but you are not eligible for appearing in the IES exam..

But,you can appear for the UPSC Civil Service Exams if you wish to..

all the best..

With Warm Regards
"Nitz"

Yes
My friend,
Of course you are eligible for IES examination if you are in your final year in your B.Tech.

You said that you are from IT department
Not all department are allowed for IES examination.

These streams are allowed for IES examination :

>ECE

>CSE

>IT

>CIVIL

>MECHANICAL

>EE

But you should have these criteria for this examination ;

educational qualification :
You must have completed your graduation from the above departments with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university.

Age factor :
Your age must be within 21 to 30 years for freshers.

So,
