ece is an evergreen branch and you can appear GATE and get good score ,after which you can apply for GAIL SAIL BHEL IOCL and many more . You can also apply in telecom job in BSNL and MTNL. Then you can also apply for govt. banks, which are more than 15 in number. You can apply for defence services also.

For ECE graduates, there are limited oppurtunities in the public sector but those are worth their value.. You can join firms like BSNL through JTO, write the Engineering Services Exam
Apply for BHEL, BEL, ECIL, BARC Trainees, and many further oppurtunities.

All these test would look for the fundamentals in the subject so all the prescribed books would be enough. also refer to GATE publications.

The minimum qualifications needed for core companies in EC sector is atleast 60%. This percentage may vary for some companies. In India, there are various core performing companies in electronics & communications sector. Some of them are Intel, Samsung Electronics, Sony, Toshiba, Philips Semiconductors, Texas Instruments, LG Electronics, Nokia, AMD, CISCO, Nvdia, HP, IBM, Siemens, Adobe, Verizon, Unitech, Videocon, etc. There are loads of companies. firms and industries in this sector. You can also look for Central Government jobs in EC sector such as BHEL, Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), etc.
