Mumbai University is one of the best universities in the country. The university is particularly known for the courses that it provides with regard to engineering. Even students from other countries come to the university to pursue various courses.  B.E students of electronics and communication engineering branch have to study basics of electronic circuits during the 3rd semester of the course. They have to take its exam at the end of the semester.

Information on the subject

The subject is totally based on electronics and the deals with the circuit of the most common devices that we use every day. This subject enables the students to understand how an electronic device works. The circuits involved are mainly semi conductor circuits.

Mode of the paper

The paper is devoid of sections. There are 7 sections in all each containing sub sections.  The first question has to be answered by all the candidates. Four questions have to be answered from the remaining questions.

Time allotted and maximum marks

The time allotted for the exam is 3 hours. The maximum mark of the paper is 100 and a minimum of 40% is marks to pass.

Syllabus of the subject

A few areas covered by the syllabus are:

•    Butterworth filters
•    Bi polar junction transistor
•    Field effect transistor
•    amplifier
•    Oscillator
•    Rectifiers

Scoring well

The only way to score high is to grasp the whole syllabus properly and then keep on practising using previous year question papers. It is essential to learn the circuit diagrams by drawing them.
