sir, i have got 42% in graduation. can i take cds exam?

Yes, you are eligible to appear in CDS exam, 2011.

Educational Qualifications required for CDS exam, 2011 is as follows:

1. For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy-Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.

2. For Indian Naval Academy : Degree in Engineering.

3. For Air Force Academy : Degree of Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

There is no percentage criteria.

For CDS you need to have the following qualifications for the below fields:

(i) For IMA and OTA :- Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
Candidates appearing at the degree or equivalent examination also eligible to compete subject to certain conditions.

(ii) For Naval Academy :- B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.

(iii) For Air Force Academy :-Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

There is no percentage criteria.

2)Marital status,age limit and sex
For IMA-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1988 and not later than 1st 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.


For Naval Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1990 (2nd January, 1988 in case of NCC/Naval Wing ‘C’ Certificate holders) and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.


For Air Force Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.


For Officers Training Academy - (SSC Course for Men) : Male candidates (married or unmarried born not earlier than 2nd January, 1987 and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.


For Officers' Training Academy - (SSC Women Non-Technical Course)

The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate.

These certificates are required to be submitted only after the declaration of the result of the written part of the examination. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The expression Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

Sometimes the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate does not show the date of birth, or only shows the age by completed years or completed years and months.

In such cases a candidate must send in addition to the attested/certified copy of Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate an attested/certified copy of a certificate from the Headmaster/Principal of the Institution from where he passed the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination showing the date of his birth or exact age as recorded in the Admission Register of the Institution.

Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

The candidates should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in column 8 of the application form for the Examination. If on verification at any subsequent stage any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their Matriculation or equivalent examination certificate, disciplinary action will be taken against them by the Commission under the Rules

Candidates should also note that once a Date of Birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Commission for the purpose of admission to an Examination, no change will be allowed subsequently or at a subsequent examination on any ground whatsoever

3)Educational Qualification

For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy-Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.


For Indian Naval Academy : Degree in Engineering.


For Air Force Academy : Degree of Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

i) For admission to IMA, Naval and Air Force Academy on or before 13th November, 2011.

(ii) For admission to Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai on or before 1st February, 2012.

you are eligible for the CDS exam, apply in the CDS exam,eligibility is to pass the graduation in any discipline but you must have passed your +2 with pcm group.Your age should be less than equal to 25 year old.

Physical fitness
1.your height must be greater than equal to 157cm
2.Weight according to height
3.There is no colour blindness
4.No wax in the ear
5.no knocking knee.

if you are graduate from an recognized university then you can surely write the exam,
you should log on to www.upsc.gov.in for applying and all other details,
all the best

to appear in CDS examination you must be graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. there are no minimum marks criterion to appear in CDS examination.

as you have already completed graduation so surely you are eligible for CDS.

there are different examination for different branch of student. so you must choose the proper examination according to your branch of study.

Yes ofcourse you are eligible for for CDS exam.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS-Any graduate degree/BE/B Tech degree having passed Physics and Maths at 10+2.

AGE LIMIT-19 TO 23 YEARS.

MONTH OF EXAMS-in the month of april/september.

As you have completed your graduation .
Therefore you are eligible for CDS exam.

If you have completed your graduation from a recognised University, then you are eligible to appear in CDS Exams.

So, there is no Creteria for Minimum Marks in CDS Exams. If you are a graduate Student, then you are eligible to apply for CDS exams But you should be medically fit in all respects.

- You should be atleast 157cms in height.

- You should have a chest expansion after full inspiration of 5cms at least.

- You should should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye with or without glasses.

- You should be in free from any mental or physical disease or disability which at any point of time interfere with his duties.

since it seems you are a graduate..you can appear for the exam but you need to have physics and mathematics at +2 level....

yes you can write cds examination as the minimum educational qualification is that you should be a graduate. it doesnt matter how much marks you have obtained at graduation level.

CDS - Combined Defence Academy

CDS is one of the defence service entrance exam conducted by UPSC ebvery year.

It gives opportunities for candidates to join in Indian Army,Navy,Air force.

The eligibility which you would need to write the CDS exam are:

Age limits:

For Indian Military academy only male unmarried candidates with 19-24 years of age are eligible.

For Naval academy only male unmarried candidates with 19-22 years of age are eligible.

For Air force academy only male unmarried candidates with 19-23 years of age are eligible.

For Officer's training academy unmarried or married male candidates with 19-25 years of age are eligible.

Education Qualification:

For Military and Officers training academy a degree from a recognized university is needed.

For Indian Naval Academy a degree in the field of engineering is needed.

For Air force academy a degree from a recognized university with physics and maths at 10 and 12 level or a B.E degree is needed.

If you satisfy the above criteria's then you are eligible for the CDS exam.

CDS is the entrance exam for getting into the Indian army,Air force and the Navy.CDS stands for the Combined Defence Services.It is conducted twice every year by the UPSC .

The eligibility criteria for the CDA entrance exam is that the candidates should have passed their graduation from any discipline but from a recognized university .

The age limits for the same is between 19 years to 25 years for the general category candidates.
Also there is the upper age relaxation for the OBC of 3 years and for te SC/ST it is 5 years.

Except for the Army wing , for the rest two wing that is the Air force and the navy wing you need to have the engineering degree from the recognized university.
But for the Army wing simple graduation form any discipline is eligible.

And ya of course you are eligible for the CDA exam even if you have scored 43% of the marks in your graduation.
So study well and do hard works to qualify the CDS entrance exam and make your country proud on you.
