To become IAS you have to apply for civil service exam which consist of preliminary exam ,main exam and interview
A. Preliminary Examination PAPER I: is of 2 hours and 200 marks PAPER II:Is of 2 hours and 200 Both papers will consist of Objective Type questions only. B. Main Examination PAPER I: One of the Indian Languages chosen from the prescribed list is of 3 hours and 300 PAPER II:Is of English of 3 hours and 300 marks PAPER III:Is Essay of 3 hours of 200 PAPER IV: Optional Subject 1 of 3 hours and 300 marks PAPER V:Optional Subject 1 of 3 hours and 300 PAPER VI:Optional Subject 2 of 3 hours 300 marks PAPER VII:Optional Subject 2 of 3 hours and 300 marks Total 2000 Books to prepare for the IAS exam are :: To keep updated with ‘current affairs’ you will require reading newspapers from at least one year back from the time of appearing for exam. Other than books, you also need to prepare from a good atlas for ‘Geography’. For ‘General Knowledge’, you must read ‘Competition Success Review” and collect facts. Also, you can solve question papers of previous years’ preliminaries. For ‘General Studies’ read political and business magazines as much as you can but within limit. For ‘optional subject paper’, the most important thing is that you choose a subject about which you are very much confident. Do prepare for both ‘Preliminary’ and ‘Main’ exam very well, as you will not have much time to prepare for ‘Main’ exam after clearing prelims successfully. |

Books For IAS For becoming an IAS Officer..you need to clear the Civil Service Exam and in order to appear in that..you need to have the following minimum qualifications :- 1) You should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized University.. 2) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general,21-33 year for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST The exam will take place in two rounds.. First round will be the Prelims or the CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test) in which your general knowledge,current affairs and aptitude skills will be tested.. In the second round..the Mains..your knowledge of graduation subjects shall be tested.. If you clear both the rounds then you will be called for the final interview.. IAS means Indian Administrative Services and is basically meant for those aspiring candidates who have strong dedication towards the country. India holds a UPSC examination every year and on the basis of this examination a number of IAS officers are recruitment. Eligibility Criteria :- A.)Educational Qualification:- The minimum qualification required for appearing the competitive examination is Graduation. Many professionals like Engineers, Doctors, persons with Ph.d qualifications are competing for UPSC. B.)Age Factor:- 1.> For general category :- 21-30 years and can attempt 4 times. 2.>For SC/ST :- 21-35 years ,and there is no limitation . 3.> For the OBC:- 21-33 years and can attempt 7 times. Paper Pattern for IAS exam :- 1) General-Studies paper carries 150 marks 2) Optional paper carries 150 marks.
