I am 29 years old can i apply for Net for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureships

YOU CAN APPLY FOR NET FOR LECTURESHIP AT THE AGE OF 29 YEARS BUT CAN NOT APPLY FOR JRF.

NET NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST conducted by UGC two times ayear one in June and other in December for selection of Lectureship and award to JRF(Junior Research Fellowship).

The candidate having completed Post Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognised University with at least 55% marks(50% for SC/ST candidate) is eligible to apply for NET. The minimum age for application to NET is 19 years and there is no upper age limit for those applying for Lectureship but those applying for JRF should not be above 28 years.

Hence you are not eligible to apply for NET JRF at the age of 29 years.

You can apply in NET Exam for Lectureship as it has no age criteria

but you are not eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) as there is age limit for applying in JRF.

JRF age limit is 28 yrs for general candidates.


NET stands for National Eligibility Test.

UGC conduct the examination twice in a year.

This examination is conducted for the Junior Research Fellowship and Lecturer ship.

Minimum Eligibility For applying in NET examination

• Post Graduation in the subject from recognized university
• 55% marks in post graduation.

Age limit

For Junior Research Fellowship - age of the candidate should not be more then 28 years.

For Lecturer ship - There is no age limit to apply for Lecturer ship.

The exam consist three papers

Syllabus

Paper I

• General knowledge
• Current affairs
• Aptitude and reasoning

(It is 100 marks and a objective type paper).

Paper II

• Core subjects

(it carries 100 marks)

Paper III

• Selected core subjects

(It carries 200 marks)

(Total marks the paper carries is 400 marks)

You cannot apply for the UGC NET exam for JUNIOR RESEARCH LECTURESHIP because the exam up to which you are eligible to appear for it is 28 years you should not be more than this age.

UGC(UNIVERSITY GRANT COMMISSION) is the institute which conducts the NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST for the recruitment of candidates for the LECTURESHIP and Junior research Fellowship.

THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA IS:

1)You must have completed Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from university recognized by UGC.

2)If you are in the final year of the Master's Degree then also you are eligible for the exam.

3)IF you have done P.HD then also you are eligible.

4)You must have secured the minimum of 55% marks in Master's degree and A 5% relaxation in marks in given to the Reserved category candidates.

5)AGE CRITERIA:

5.1 For Junior Research Fellowship: You should not be more than 28 years as on 01.12.2011. 5 years of relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories candidates and to women applicants.

5.2 Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

The test consists of three papers and papers will be held on 24th December 2011 (SATURDAY)
the test is conducted in two sessions.

First I 100 1¼ Hours (09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M.)
First II 100 1¼ Hours (10.45 A.M. to 12.00 NOON)
Second III 200 2½ Hours (01.30 P.M. to 04.00 P.M.)

PAPER-I is to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate

PAPER-II: Multiple choice type questions.

Paper-III will consist of only descriptive questions from the subject selected by the candidate.

I am nepalese citizen and have done 10th from nepal, 12th and graduation from India. Can i Apply for JRF entrance Exam?

suppose i clear NET/JRF within 28 years of age but i start research a year or two from the date of declaration of NET result. Will i still avail the scholarship or should i be within 28 to start P.hD as well. Thanks for your observations.
