The present examination pattern of Civil Services examination is that candidates need to select only one optional paper. The rule regarding selection of two optional paper is over now. You can choose "Public Administration" as optional paper in Mains exam.

There are four General Studies paper in Mains exam. GS I paper consists of question from Geography and History, GS II from Polity and Constitution, GS III from Economy, Science and GS IV from ethics. There will be two papers from same optional subject.
