And also the exam is held in three phases: * Prelims in may and those clear it go for next, * MAins and those clear it go for final round,, * Interview... |

Any Graduate from a recognised University can apply for Civil Services Examination. So don't worry about your qualification if you want to become a IAS officer.
So start your preparation for Civil Services if you are serious about it. After completion of your Engineering you can apply for Civil Services Examination when the notification are out. The only other thing that you have to take care is the age criteria. If your age is according to the criteria then only you can apply for it. For General Category age limit is between 21 to 30 years. There is age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category. The selection as an IAS Officer will depend on the marks obtained in the Civil Services examination. The examination is 3 stages procedure in which first stage will be Civil Services Aptitude Test then Mains Exam and in the end Interview. Those who pass in CSAT are eligible to apply for Mains exam. In Mains Exam you have to give optional papers and compulsory papers which will be both objective and descriptive. The interview will be very important in the selection procedure. Any candidate who has obtained his bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any stream is eligible to appear for the civil services examinations conducted by the UPSC every year for the different respectable services like IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS . Yes you can apply for IAS exam as you are eligible for it.
To be eligible for IAS exam you must hold any degree in any discipline from any recognized university. The degree can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.) Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university Minimum age is 21 years, and not have attained the upper age limit on 1st August of the year in which he/she attempts the exams are eligible.
