right now im a student of std 12th...after 12th i want to go for engineering...after i get a degree i want to join army as an engineer....this is my basic plan...but i need some more info like:
can i select any field in engg. to get selected in army? or are there any limitations in selection of fields?
should i get done with any course which will be helpful in my selection in army?
what is the position of girls in this field? can they make a good career here? and as an engg. which is the highest position assembled?? what about the salary for enggs.?
and most importantly..are my plans in a corrrect direction? i mean,right now the things going in my mind might be emotional about doin sumthing for my country...but practically are they correct???
what efforts can girls take from right now to get selected in army?

There are many option for the girls in Indian army after graduation and so on.
Short Service Commission For Women (Officers)
This test is generally for men and woman both, so a girl candidate can apply for this.Women officers receive training at OTA, Chennai.

After completion of the training from chennai a candidate can get these posts such as-
Troop Commander, Royal Signals, IT & Communications
Gunner Operator
Royal Military Policewoman
Military Clerk
Military Administrator

to join in amry, you have to appear an qualify UPSC exam.

through UPSC exam, you can join in Indian army.

the criteria to attain in the UPSC exam is

minimum graduation in qualification with 60% marks in btech.

age limit 21-29 years.

The application usually mention the following branches of engineering - BE/ BTech Electronics, Telecom, ECE, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Architecture. Women are selected for SSC (Short Service Commission) though recently the Delhi High Court has allowed PC (permanent commission) for women in wings like engineering, ordnance, intelligence, signals, logistics, air traffic control , ie, those wings that do not take women directly to the battle field. Yes, it is a good career and has an attractive pay pack. You need to understand that the selection process is tough. Initially there will be a written test. Once you pass that, you will get a call for a week’s skills test and interviews during which you will be staying at the venue of the tests. You will have group and individual physical tests and group discussion and interviews. Physical fitness is very important. If you pass this, there will be medical tests; eye site, weight, etc will be checked.
You are still young. You may not feel the same about joining the army after 2-3 years. It is ok to make plans, but don’t get disappointed if they don’t work.

so that means,if someone passes all the exams and interviews.....but is having spectacles....so he will be rejected???? even if he is an engg. candidate?? and is it that tough to pass these exams?? what study it consists of?

UPSC conducts the CDS eaxm for army officers. you need to be a graduate for this. most important is that there are certain conditions regarding physical fitness also. you not only have to pass the written exam but also the fitness test. women can only seat for officers' training academy

an advertisement has been issued regarding this. the exam is in february 2011.

Girls can join army as number of field are available in army for them like in technical field and also in other field like piolet, navy .

after your engineering so many direct entries are there as TGC, NCC entry and UES
details in joining
if your are having ncc 'c' certificate so you can give ssb in direct form,
if you are a technical graduate in any disciplines so she can give TGC entry
and ues is a scheme where army officers comes to your college for pre ssb and they decides whether she has to go ssb or not.

Engineers conduct mobility and counter mobility support...building bridges and roads for Infantry and Armor...emplacing and destroying minefields...and reducing obstacles prior to Infantry and Armor assaults...so yes the participate in combatto .
on my view mechanical is better to you.so take mechanical or you can simply take any degree then you can join in to army.if your desire is serve country why to waste extra one year.

1)you should be less than 23 years old.
2)you should be medically sound.
3)plus two with maths and physics as compulsury subjects with 65% aggregate
4)The other after graduation such that minimum criteria for the the percentage is 60% and varied to 65%

*girls should have the height of 152 cms with correlated weight. Eye Sight - The minimum acceptable standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses and should not be colour/night blind.

dont worry your career option is good dont get dissapointed , see at first you should have strong determination to do in that work.dont follow other students simply, please remember you are living for the country and dont look for best oppurtunities.

If you are willing to join Indian Army, than you may also do so on the basis of your graduation degree in any of the stream.

On the basis bachelor degree, girls candidates can join Defence forces by following entry modes:

Short Service Commission (SSC) conducted by UPSC.

Other than this, if you are specifically interested to join Indian Army only on the basis of engineering degree than you can join Technical Branch of Indian Army as a Mechanical Engineer. On the basis of this entry mode, girl candidates within the age limit of 18 to28 are eligible to join Technical Branches provided they must be having engineering degree with minimum 60% marks.

Final years/semester appearing students can also apply for the examination provisionally.

Only unmarried candidates can join Indian Army. Both male and female candidates can apply for UES after completing their engineering degree (Btech or B.E. ), whichever applies.

Mainly UES or University Entrance Scheme has two modes of selection which we call as commissions. These two modes are

Firstly, The Short Service Commission or SSC. in which the candidates have the option of joining Indian Army and serving as a Commissioned Officer for 10 years. After 10years, the wish is of the candidate if he wantsto continue or discontinue his services to the Army.

Secondly, The Permanent Commission which means a career in the Army till retirement. For a Permanent commission you have to join the National Defense Academy or the Indian Military Academy .

Age :

Final Year Degree applicant- 19 years to 25 years

Pre-Final Year Degree applicant – 18 years to 24 years,

TGC-111 – 20 to 27 years, TGC-113 – 20 to 27 years, SSC (Technical) Men -35 : 20-27 years, SSC (Technical) Men-37 :20 – 27 year,

SSC (Technical) Women -6 : 20– 27 years.
