The procedure for becoming an IPS officer or IAS officer is the same. You will need to appear for the UPSC exam for the same. To be eligible for this test, you need to be graduate atleast. You will first need to clear the CSAT exam which is basically an aptitude oriented test. If you are able to clear the same then you need to appear for the Mains and after that interview round. There will be a physical fitness test too to be cleared after all these rounds.

The candidate must be a citizen of India.
The candidate must have a a age limit of 21-30 years.
For SC/ST - 35 years.
For OBC - 33 years.
For Ex-service men it is 5 years from the prescribed limits.
The candidate must have a degree from a recognized university.

Attempts:

Firstly I have to Inform you that the IAS/IPS Examination was conducted by UPSC Every Year and To Become IPS Officer you need to apply for the UPSC Civil services Examination.

firstly you have to do minimum graduation in any stream. and you have to secure minimum 50% marks.

then you have to appear in the UPSC-IAS exam.through which you can join as an IPS officer.

The selection of IPS officer is done through the Civil Service Examination conducted by the UPSC.The examination has four phases Preliminary Examination,Main examination,Medical Test and then Interview.After passing these examination one can become an IPS officer.

The eligibility criteria for the Civil Service Examination is that the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized institution and the age of the candidate must be between 21 years to 30 years.SC/ST and OBC candidate are provided 5 years and 3 years age relaxation respectively.
