IPS exams are conducted by UPSC every year. You must have graduation degree from a recognized university for IPS. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Educational Qualifications for IPS : Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Re: How to become an IPS officer after completing B.E
Yes you may apply for the Indian Police Service but will have to first complete the graduation course. After you have finished Engineering you can apply for the Civil Services Examination.
The Civil Services Examination is conducted for the Indian Police Service as well IAS and IFS. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The procedure to apply is that during the first part of the year. Mainly in January or February, the Union Public Service Commission starts the registration process. You will have to fill the form and submit it to appear for the Civil Services Examination. Then you will be called up for the preliminary exam in May or June. This is merely a qualifying exam hence the marks obtained will not be added to the final tally. You will give two written tests one on general studies and other on optional subject. Choose the optional subject wisely. Many people select subjects like Geography to maximise their chances of scoring as much marks as possible. Union Public Service Commission will release the list of candidates who have cleared the preliminary and they will now appear for the Main examination in August or September. Unlike preliminary, Main exam is not qualifying thus the marks obtained will be your final score. The 9 written tests will be as following 1. English 2. Essay 3. Languages 4. General Studies 1 5. General Studies 2 6. Optional Subject 1 7. Optional Subject 1 8. Optional Subject 2 9. Optional Subject 2 As you can see, it is necessary to select two optional subjects for the main exam. Choose the subjects related to your course that you find comfortable. For the lanugage subject you will have to select a regional language which includes Hindi as well. Eligibility 1. Indian Police Service candidates should be Indian citizen. 2. Minimum qualification required is under graduation degree. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. Your age should be between 21 to 30 years. 5. The age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC. 6. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST. Physical Criteria Male 1. Height should be 165 cm but for ST the requirement is 160 cm. 2. Chest should be 84 cm with 5 cm expansion. Female 1. For general height should be 150 cm, while 145 cm for ST. 2. Chest criteria is 79 cm with 5 cm expansion. 3. Should not be pregnent during medical tests. Eye Sight Requirement 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye |

Re: How to become an IPS officer after completing B.E
It is a good move from you to try for the job opportunity in civil services as IPS office even though you are a candidate from Engineering.
One should have strong preparation for the selection procedure in order to be placed in civil services. Sometimes it may take 2-3 years of time also to get through the written test and other rounds of selection procedure which will be CSAT Exam Main Exam Interview If you are okay with this, then you can try for civil services. If you want to have immediate job opportunity soon after the completion of your BE in EEE, I suggest you to opt for the job opportunities in private sector in the core companies for Electronics like Vodafone Bharati Airtel Reliance Communications etc. One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream to be eligible to apply for CSAT Exam. The following age should be possessed by the candidate. 21-30 years of age for the candidates of General category. Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category. Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category. The nationality of the candidate should be India. Have good preparation for the selection procedure and crack it. Wish you all the best. |

Re: How to become an IPS officer after completing B.E
You are eligible for appearing for the IPS Exam as you have a graduate degree. You also have to meet their physical standards after you have cleared the entrance test. The entrance exam comprises of three sections Preliminary Examination which covers objective type questions, Mains which is subjective type questions and personal interview questions. IPS exam also have some specific physical requirement which are different from rest of the Civil Service exam.
