Does gate exam qualify to sit in preliminary exam to become ias

GATE that is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering has nothing to do with the Indian Administrative Services.

GATE is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology for Master's degree in technology from top reputed engineering institutes of India.

Civil Services examination is conducted for services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc by the Union Public Service Commission.

Civil Services examination has three stages:

1. Preliminary exam

2. Mains examination.

3. Personal interview.

In order to be eligible for preliminary exam, you must satisfy the following requirements:

>>Bachelor' degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.

>>The age limit is 21-30 years. Relaxation in upper age limit applicable to OBC and SC/ST categories.

There are four attempts for general candidates, seven for OBC and no limit for SC/ST candidates in this exam.
