actully m an computer science 5th sem engineering student..... this year i decided to write gate exam........i want some information about this exam......like
1.application forms??
2.last date to submit the application forms??
3.entrance fee??
4.which type of books we can refer??
5.and what is the question paper format??
6.how the answer papers will be evaluated???

1. application form are now available both online and offline form. visit the website www.iitm.ac.in for details.
2. last date of submitting online and offline both form is 2nd november, 2011
last date of online form fill up is 27th october, 2011
3. for online form fill up examination fees is Rs. 800/-
for offline form fill up examination fees is Rs. 1000/-
4. you may can go for the book by G.K Publishers. this is a very popular book for GATE.
5. all multiple choice question come in GATE.
6. answer sheet are OMR sheet. the answer paper will be evaluated with the help of computer.

I am answering your question in the following passage.one by one.please find it.

application forms are presently available both online and offline form. you can fillup the online application by just visit the website www.gate.iitm.ac.in.last date of submitting online(27th oct 2010) and offline form is 2nd november, 2010.for online form fill up examination fees is Rs. 800/- (SC/ST fees 400/-).for offline form fill up examination fees is Rs. 1000/-(SC/ST fees 500/-).you can go for the book by G.K Publishers with your regular books. .All are MCQ and 15 marks General aptitude and mathematics are there.answer sheet are OMR sheet. the answer paper will be evaluated with the help of optical reader.

OMR stands for optical mark recognition where light is focused on your answer sheet and the output from that has two types one which is glower and the other which you have marked absorbs the light so its a bit less glower and then there is a software which does the suitable calculation

As you are from CS branch you should perpare Theory of computation, Operating system, Data structure, DBMS, Computer network, and digital logic.
deeply.
Also prepare for aptitude at it is 15 mark section.
In last 10 days you should go for solving papers only that will boost your confidence..

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
It is organized by Indian Institute of Science and IITs
to admit the students into M.Tech.
1) Application forms can be obtained from both online and offline.
For online go to website gate.iitm.ac.in/gate2011
Offline forms can be obtained from IIT offices and also from designated bank branches.
2) Last Date for submitting GATE 2011 Application Form:-
Online (October 27, 2010)
Offline (November 02, 2010)
3) For offline Rs. 1000/- and for online Rs. 800/-.
4) For your GATE preparation you can consult following Books :-

5) Each paper contains 65 MCQ questions carrying 100 marks.
i) Q.1 to Q.25: Will carry one mark each (sub-total 25 marks).
Negative Marks :- 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
ii) Q.26 to Q.55: Will carry two marks each (sub-total 60 marks)
Negative Marks :- 2/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
iii) Q.48 through Q.51 (2 pairs) will be common data questions. Each question will carry two marks

iv) Question pairs (Q.52, Q.53) and (Q.54, Q.55) will be linked answer questions.

i have gate marks as 12.33 and score as 48 for M.E Computer science;which college i will get for this score?

GATE exam is also conducted in online and offline mode based on your branch.
For some branch it is online mode and for some it is offline mode.

Entrance exam fee would charge your anything between 800-1000 depending on online or offline mode

You should cover your graduation course uptill 6th semester. You can also refer G.K Publisher

All multiple choice question come in GATE.. Mostly technical and some engineering mathematics and aptitude too
