To become a Customs Officer you will have to take the Civil Services Examination which provides entry into 27 different services including the Indian Customs & Central Excise Services.

Customs Department is one of the two main tax collecting departments of the government whose function is divided into two broad areas:

The control of imported and exported goods for the purpose of duty, statistics and checks for entry of prohibited and restricted goods, especially smuggled drugs

If you want to have career as Customs officer than you need to have at least 21 years of age and you also need to have a valid Degree on your name. I regret to inform that not only for customs dept., for any other services to be an officer you need to have at least Degree qualification.

Custom Officers works for the Custom and Central Excise Department which comes under revenue department of the Ministry of Finance, Central government of India. The job of custom officer is to control the exports and imports of goods from India and check the entry of any prohibited goods in India.

Custom Officer not only checks the entry of prohibited goods but also ensures that custom duties is paid for the items carried into India.

To become Custom Officer, candidate is required to appear in the Civil Service Examination by the Union Public Service Commission. Only on passing the Civil Service Examination, candidate would be selected to become custom officer.


Eligibility

~~ Candidate should be Indian citizen.


Age Limit

~~ Your age should be 21 to 30 years.

~~ There is three years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC candidates.

~~ SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.


Educational Criteria

~~ Must have graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university.

~~ At least 55 percent marks in graduation course.


Other Requirements

~~ Candidate should have Vehicle licence.

~~ Candidate should know how to activate a radio or telephone equipment and console monitors.



Exam Process

There are two section of the Civil Service Examination for Custom Officers:

1) Preliminary Exam

2) Main Exam


Main Exam consists:

==> Written Test

==> Physical Test

==> Personal Interview

To become a custom officer, you will have to write Civil Services Examination conducted every year by UPSC. This exam provides entry into 27 different services which includes Indian Customs and Central Excise Services.

The basic eligibility for this exam is graduation. So, take admission for graduation course in any good recognized college and concentrate on your studies keeping in mind that you have to appear for civil services examination after graduation.

Just after passing class 12th, you cannot join as Customs Officer.

To join as Customs officer you have to appear in the SSC conducted Combined Graduate Level exams


ELIGIBILTY ---
Graduation pass in any stream
No Minimum Percentage is required in Graduation

AGE-
Minimum 18 years
Maximum 27 years
AGE Relaxations- 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates


So, complete your Graduation and than apply for the Customs officers exams.

From any University with recognised University,
And them you have to give UPSC CSE exam ,

Age limit -21 yrs
And The candidate must have a grade point average of at least 55 %in order to apply.

For this Maths and English are the best stream .
