you have not mentioned the stream to which you belongs.if you are these four branches:
1. MECHANICAL ENGG.
2. CIVIL ENGG.
3. ELECTRONICS & TELECOMMUNICATION ENGG.
4.CHEMICAL ENGG.
5.ELECTRICAL ENGG.
then on the basis of gate score you can get a job in IOCL.for this you can contact the official site of IOCL which is:

There are few government companies witch offer you job on the basis of GATE Score card some of them are,
1.SAIL.(Steel Authority of India Limited)
2ONGC(Oil and Natural Gas Corporation)
3.BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.) etc.....

The other thing related to the GATE score card is that you can do M.Tech for a good recognized institute ,you will get admission directly on the GATE score card.

I am a student of B.Tech ENERGY in NIT Bhopal. The branch is not mentioned explicitly in companies list for recruitment through GATE score. Though it is listed in branches eligible for off campus exams conducted by the companies itself (eg:in BHEL). Can I also apply for recruitment through GATE by submitting my GATE registration number ?

i doubt if Electronics & Telecommunication is there.....please check its only instrumentation engg and that excludes "communication engg"

after getting good score in gate exam ,cngc giving direct job or conducting interview sections?

if you need good job then it does not necessary means that you should stay in Chennai.
companies like Larsen and Toubro,mahindra,Volkswagen ,tata,they all provide good package but they can transfer you any where in India depending on the need of the company.
