What is the minimum eligibility to get inot IIT through GATE EXAM(for MTech)?especially for general category students.

first of you must know there is no age bar for a student to get admisssion in to IIT for doing ,MTECH
the only requirement isto get a good percentile and good marks.
it is alalmost 8oo gate score
so alot of hard work is required so get ready for that

your degree percentage must be above 60.
some iit's asking 70%.
so its secure if your percentage is above 70.

If you want to do M-TECH in IIT's then you have to face GATE entrance exam.

Eligiblity creteria for these exam is:

*Must be graduate from btech discipline from recognised university.

*Must have minimum aggregate of 60% in Graduate.

can a civil engineering graduate do m-tech in mechanical or electronics engineering through iit........and if yes then what is he process ?..............?................pls reply soon..........

You finished your btech in recognised good university with above 60%marks. Gate is the entrance exam of any mtech course. You can score a very high marks in gate means you get a seat in iit.

you must be completed your B-TECH or MCA or M.SC with 60% above marks .

final year candidate also applicable for admission in M-TECH programme.

You must score good percentage in GATE exam.

my qualifying deegree % is 66%.. but it is because my university considers last year aggregate (that is 7th nd 8th sem) as deegree %..
nd my aggregate is 59.56%..

According to the Eligibility of the GATE:

1:You should have a Bachelor's degree with minimum 60% marks in Engineering or Technology or Architecture or Pharmacy of 4 years after 10+2.

2:You can also apply if you are in the final year examination of the Bachelor Degree.
or
3:You have to be a Master degree holders in any branch of Science like Physics,Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications etc....

4:You can also apply if you are in the final year examination of the Master Degree.

In this year 2012,the GATE 2012 is organized by Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi

Eligibility to get admission in GATE exam:-

1.One must have complete the B.tech/BE course..

2.One must have secure 60% aggregate through out the graduation.

3.One have to appear in GATE exam, and have to do an excellent score in GATE exam..
On the basis of your GATE score you will be able to get admission in IIT's..
So, try to do well in GATE exam..

GATE ( Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering ) is the common entrance test ( CWE ) for the entry into PG programs.

Eligibility Criteria : for GATE examination

1. Candidates who are Bachelor Degree holder in Engineering / Technology / Architecture 4 years after 10+2 or candidates who are in Pre-final year can apply.

2. Candidates Master Degree holder in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications or equivalent can apply for GATE.

3. Candidates who are with qualifications obtained from professional society like UPSC / AICTE or equivalent to B.E / B.Tech . Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such course can also apply for GATE.

4. Candidates who are in the second or higher year of the 4 year integrated Master Degree program in Engineering / Technology or 5 year integrated program and Dual Degree Integrated program in Engineering / Technology can also apply for GATE.

So dude as you said you had completed your B.Tech part time it is not the required criteria , so if you completed your Degree program you can go for GATE examination.

Here i am attaching the cutoff list of last years IIT -DELHI for gate exam's admission.

just have a look you will get detail idea from that list regarding minimum eligiblity.

GATE entrance exam is held once in a year,this is conducted by IIT's to intake qualified students for Post graduation course in Engineering,Architecture and Statistical course.

This exam score is valid for 2 years.

Eligibility criteria for GATE-2012 exam:
You should have complete graduation degree in Engineering/Architecture/Statistical course.
or
Appearing for final exam of above mentioned course can also eligible for Gate exam.

Important dates for GATE-2012 exam:
Closing date for application form is 21st Oct 2011.
Exam will held on 29th Jan 2012.

You must have PCM in 12th standard
