Please tell me the physical requirement and educational requirement to join merchant navy? And also tell me that after 3rd year diploma can i apply for merchant navy?

If you are currently pursuing Diploma in Nautical Science, then you can apply for Merchant Navy after its completion.

But if you are doing diploma in other specific branch, then you will have to pursue any graduation course like:

• B.Tech Marine Engineering
• MBA Shipping and Logistics
• B.E Marine Engineering
• B.Sc Nautical Science
• M.E Marine Engineering
• B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ship Building

After pursuing anyone of the above course, you can apply for Merchant Navy.

Physical Requirements required for Merchant Navy is similar to defence exams like NDA, CDS Exams.

The education qualification for merchant navy is varying from post to post.If you are applying for the officer level jobs in navigational and engineering fields you would have to pursue Bachelors course in nautical science or Marine engineering.

Physical standards required:-

**Minimum Height :- 160 cms to 170 cms from different regions of the country

**Minimum Chest:- 77cms

**Minimum Weight:-48 kg to 50 from different regions of the country.

No, diploma candidates are not eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical Criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)
