The steps for becoming Chartered Accountant are as follows:

• Register and qualify the Common Proficiency Test
• Enroll and qualify the Integrated Professional Competence Course
• Register for the Final Course
• Enroll for articled ship training
• Complete 100 hours of Computer Training
• Qualify the Final Course
• Go through management training
• Be a associate member of ICAI and become a Chartered Accountant.

The Common Proficiency Test is conducted twice a year and is compulsory to qualify the test, in order to pursue the Chartered Accountancy Course.
