Qualifications required for IPS exam? How much height and weight is required?

IPS Eligibility criteria :

Age limits :

The candidate must have attained the of 21 yrs and must not attained the age of 30 yrs on 1st August of the year of Examination.

Education Qualification :

The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree from any recognized university.
Those in the final year of a degree course can also Eligible.


Height :

Male 165 cm Pahari Male (General also)& ST(Not the SC/OBC) - 160 cm
Female 150 cm Pahari Male (General also)& ST(Not the SC/OBC) - 145 cm

Chest :

Male Minimum 84 cm Expansion 5 cm.
Female Minimum 79 cm Expansion 5 cm.

Eye sight :

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye.6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.Near Vision J 1
for good eye.J2 Worst Eye.The Correction is by lenses only.High Standard for the color - blind test.No inherent night blindness.Vision should stereoscopic.

You need to be a graduate in any stream of your choice. But it should be from a recognised institute. Incase you are a male candidate your height should be atleast 160cms. If your female it should be at least 150 cms. For men the chest should not be less than 184 cms and females it should be 79 cms atleast. A maximum of 5 cms is allowed.

I.P.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Qualification for I.P.S:- Pass graduation with any stream fron recognized university. All the final year student of graduation course are eligible for Exam.

Age limit:-
For Open category:- 21-30 year
For OBC category:- 21-33 YEAR
For ST/SC category:- 21-37 year

Number of Attempts:-
For open category:- 4 attempts
For ST/SC category:- 7 attempts

if you are belong to sc/st category than you must have 35 years of age limit. for ex serviceman 5 more years of age relaxation is given.

physical requirements
your height must be 150cms if you are belong to general category.
if you belong to sc/st castes you must have 160cms for male and 145 cms for female.
chest must be expanded to 5 cms.
your eyesight must be 6/12 or 6/29 distant vision for worse eyes and 6/6 or 6/9 for good eye vision.

UPSC details
you may know that the recruitment process of civil services exam conducted by the union public service examination is called the CSAT or the civil service aptitude test.
the civil service examination consists of two types
civil services preliminary examination =this exam is conducted for the selection for main examination.
civil services main examination consists of both objective carries 200 marks each paper totally 400 marks.

general sciences

paper-2

comprehension,
logical reasoning and analytically ability,
decision making and problem solving,

English language comprehension skills,
basic numeracy,

IPS(Indian Police Service) exams are conducted by UPSC every year.

Educational Qualifications for IPS :
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

Physical fitness criteria for IPS-

Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30 decibels.
Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking.
