The minimum academic qualification that is required for the candidates to apply for IAS or Civil Services Exam is by completion of Graduation.

Candidates who have completed Graduation with any of the stream are eligible to apply for Civil Services Exam.

Hence you can choose the stream as per your interest in 10+2 and Graduation.

If you are interested in Science stream, you can opt for the same.

If you are interested in Commerce or any other stream, you can go for it.

Mandatory subjects criteria in academic levels is not there for Civil Services Exam.

But the thing is that you should have passed Graduation with any stream to be eligible to apply for Civil Services Exam.

There is huge competition for this Exam.

I would suggest you to join separate Coaching for Civil Services right from the beginning of your Graduation.

Due to this, you will gain complete knowledge in all the subjects of Civil Services Exam which will help you to score more in the Written Exam.

There would be 3 rounds of selection process :
Civil Services Preliminary Exam
Civil Services Main Exam
Interview

After 10th standard, you can opt for any stream like Science, Arts or Commerce to be eligible for IAS Exam (formally called Civil Services Exam). All stream candidates are eligible to apply for IAS Exam.
Whether you are PCM, PCB, PCMB or Commerce, you are eligible for IAS Exam. Firstly, there will be Preliminary Exam, then Mains Exam and then Personal Interview.

I.A.S is Indian Administrative Service and for recruitment you have to appear and qualify in Civil Service examination which is conducted by UPSC.

The required qualification to appear in examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

There is no limitation on discipline of bachelor degree and age limit is 21-32 years.

So, you are eligible to pursue any stream in 12th and bachelor degree to appear in examination.

You need to Graduate to appear for CSE. It does not matter what discipline you come from. However, you need to choose a subject you would to like to study for many years. Also, areas of humanities are more closely linked with syllabus, particularly, political science, economics, etc.

Meanwhile, you should try to learn about the world in general. Keep yourself aware. Start reading newspaper. It is never too early for that. Also, try to learn your NCERT text books really well.

Focus on school and have fun in college. Do not let this exam become a burden so early in life.

ALL THE BEST

To become an IAS officer candidates have to appear and qualify in civil services exam.

The eligibility to appear this examination is:

Candidate must have passed Bachelors degree from a recognized university.

Candidate's age must be between 21-32 years with relaxation in age for reserved category.

There is no limitation on discipline and aggregate of any academic course to appear for examination. So you can pursue any stream in your 10th and higher studies.

But according to my suggestion if you want to qualify in CSE examination, you must have well understanding about your mains optional paper. So, it will be better to select your stream by taking in consideration of your future.

There are no mandatory subjects which need to be taken to become an IAS even your subjects in your graduation don't matter. You can pursue your graduation in whatever subjects you like because the foremost point on eligibility to write CSE (Civil Service Examination) is to hold a bachelor degree from a recognised university under UGC (University Grant Commission) in any stream. However, if you choose Arts in your 11th class and B.A. in any subject it will help you excel your performance in the examination as most part of syllabus revolves around the subjects that you will study in Arts.

IAS refers to Indian Administrative Service and to be an IAS officer you are required to qualify Civil Services examination held by UPSC once every year.

--> Further the minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in Civil Services examination are as here under :-

* You must be an Indian candidate.

* Your age must lie between 21 years to 32 years. Further age relaxation is allowed for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

* You must have completed your graduation in any stream from a recognized university.

So as far as you are concerned about the subjects to be studied in Class 10th for becoming an IAS officer then I would like to let you know that there is no compulsion of any subject at any stage of academics for appearing in Civil Services examination i.e; to become an IAS officer.

For details regarding Civil Services examination you can refer to the link www.upsc.gov.in .

None of the subjects are not mandatory to apply for IAS examination after completion of your 10th standard. You can pursue your higher studies in any stream of your interest after completion of your 12th standard even if you are interested to become an IAS officer. Candidates who have passed Bachelor's degree course in any discipline and those who are in the age range of 21 to 32 years are eligible to apply for IAS examination. Upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per government rules to apply for IAS examination.
