dear friend,
yes, for joining CBI, UPSC exam is not necessary. you can join CBI by passing SSC (staff selection commission)exam.but you can't become top officials of CBI. maximum officers are IPS officers.you camn become IPS officers only after passing UPSC exam. after passing SSC you can join CBI as a sub inspector. all the best. |

Apart from UPSC exam, there is another way to join CBI. To join the CBI department, you may appear for Combined Graduate Preliminary Exam, conducted by the Staff selection commission every year. The minimum eligibility to join CBI in the assistant grade is a bachelors degree from a recognised university. The minimum eligible age, to write combined graduate level examination, is 20 years wheras, the maximum age limit is 27 years with relaxation of upto 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC. Height: 165 cms Chest: 76 cms. with expansion The application form is published in India's leading newspapers alongwith Employment News. |

Hi,
No its not necessary to give UPSC exams to Join CBI(Central Bureau of Investigation). To join CBI you need to appear for CGPE exam i.e. Combined Graduate preliminary Exam which is conducted by SSC board every year. Minimum Qualification required for that is Graduation from a recognized university in any discipline. Visit the recruitment section on central bureau of investigation for further details. website www.cbi.gov |

Re: Is UPSC exam necessary to join CBI? or any other alternative procedure to join CBI?
Dear Jagadeesh,
Nice to see that you are interested in joining the CBI to such an extent. The Acronym "CBI" stands for Central Bureau Of Investigation. If you want to join the Central Bureau Of Investigation as a CBI Officer then you have to crack the Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination. This examination is conducted every year by the SSC [Staff Selection Commission]. As you are in the final year of BCA , you are completely eligible for the Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination if you fulfill the other required qualifications for the same. The Other Required Qualifications of the CGP Examination are : >> The Candidate must have completed Graduation in any stream from any recognized college/university. >> There is no requirement of any specific % of marks in Graduation. >> The Candidates pursuing Graduation in final year are also eligible. >> The Age of the candidate must lie in between 18-27 years for those who belong to General Category. >> A Relaxation of 5 years in upper age is given to SC/ST candidates whereas OBC Candidates get a relaxation of 3 years. >> The candidate must be mentally and physically fit. >> The candidate must be an Indian. OR A Subject of Nepal OR A Subject of Bhutan. >> There is no bar on the number of attempts for the exam. The Selection Procedure for Combined Graduate Preliminary Exam is : 1) Written Examination [Tier-I] 2) Written Examination [Tier-II] 3) Medical test 4) Personal Interview So , From the above mentioned its quite clear that you do not need to appear for any UPSC Examinations as the UPSC does not conduct any examination which gives the candidates the opportunity to join the Central Bureau of Investigation. This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want. |
