both are same , after your 12th you can go in defence through NDA and after graduation you can go through CDS , after entering through NDA you have to complete your graduation in the academy while after getting through CDS you have to just do the training directly

Re: Which way is better between CDS and NDA to join Defence Services?
dear friend,
My friend through both the exams you can join in defense.. If you want to join in defense only after completion of 12th then you can go for NDA exam. So, after completion of 12th you can apply for NDA exam through which you can join in different section... If you fail to do so, then you can go for CDS exam. For appearing in CDS exam you have to complete your graduation first. After completion of your graduation in any trade you can appear in CDS exam. Now it is up to you , in which way you want to join in defense.. All the best. |

Hai,
To join in defence services these two ways are better to join, but there is no major differance between these two CDS and NDA. CDS means Combined Defence Service, NDA means National Defence Service. There is no percentage restrictions to apply this exam. The candidates age should be in between 16.5 years to 19 years. Male unmarried candidates are only eligible i.e girls are not eligible. The candidate should be a citizen of india. The candidate must be physically fit. Eligibility criteria for CDS exam:- Graduation is the minimum educational qualification to apply this exam. The age limits is for naval academy 19 years to 22years, The age limits for airforce academy 19 years to 23 years, The age limits for military academy 19 years to 24 years, The age limits for officer training academy 19 years to 25 years. I am interested in joining the accounts section of (in order of preference) 1) The Indian Air Force 2) The Indian Army. What is the exam that I need to take? What is the process of eligibility - my height is 5 feet 2 inches? What type of jobs / roles will I be eligible for if I get selected? Request you to let me know the best way to apply for the Armed Forces? Waiting for your reply. Thanks in Advance - Sunil |

Re: Which way is better between CDS and NDA to join Defence Services?
In order to be placed in Defence services in India, UPSC will conduct 2 Entrance Exams.
They are NDA Exam and CDS Exam. The minimum academic qualification required to apply for NDA Exam is 12th class and for CDS Exam, it is Graduation. As you have strongly decided that you want to go for Defence services, it is better you can make entry as early as possible. In such a case, I suggest you to go for NDA Exam. You did not mention your highest level of academic qualification. The complete selection procedure will be NDA Exam Interview Medical Test Through this Exam, you can be placed in Army wing Navy wing Air Force wing To apply for Army, 12th class with any of the stream is okay but to apply for Navy and Air Force, 12th class with Mathematics and Physics is required. Age criteria should be 16.5 years to 19 years. If you are unable to get the job through this exam or if you have crossed the required criteria, then I suggest you to apply for CDS Exam by completing your Graduation. Wish you all the best. |
