What is the age limit followed for joining merchant navy? Can you please provide me the minimum qualification which they will look for joining the merchant navy? I need to understand the eligibility criteria and join the course accordingly.

The eligibility criteria to join Merchant Navy are as under:-

-The candidate should have passed 10+2 class or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board.

-The age limit to apply is 16 years to 25 years.

-Only unmarried male and female candidate can apply for Merchant Navy.

-The exam is conducted in different stages.These are;

*Written Exam.

*Physical Test

* Medical Test

*Personality Interview.

Actually age limit for Merchant Navy is different for different post.For Deck Cadet and GP rating age lies between 17.5 to 25 years but for engineering post upper age should be 28 years.

You can join B.Tech in Marine Engineering by cracking the entrance exam IITJEE after class 12th with Physics , Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects. Your age should not exceed 20 years and relaxation of 5 years is given to SC and ST categories. Minimum percentage in class 12th should not be less than 60%.

Courses after class 12th you can pursue to get entry into Merchant Navy:

3 year degree course in Nautical Science

4 year degree course in Marine Engineering

2 year course for diploma holders

Age limit for joining merchant Navy:-

Minimum age limit is 19 years and maximum age limit is 23 years.
Only unmarried male can appear in the test.
A candidate should be citizen of India.
A candidate should have completed his graduation from a recognised University.
Final year students can also apply.
A candidate should be physically fit.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy exam-

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

Eligibility Criteria:-

• To apply for merchant navy after 10th you need to pass pre sea courses.
• To apply for merchant navy after 12th you need to pass diploma courses in mainly two specialized fields, Nautical (Deck) and Marine engineering.
• Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for this course.
• The lower age limit is 16 years and the upper age limit is 25 years.
• You need to be physically fit and without glasses with no colour blindness.
