Re: What is the difference between OBC and general?
The Central Government of India classifies some of its citizens based on their social and economic condition as Schedule Cast, Schedule Tribe, General and OBC (Other Backward Class). The OBC list presented by the commission is dynamic (castes and communities can be added or removed) and will change from time to time depending on social, educational and economic factors. For example, the OBCs are entitled to 27% reservations in public sector employment and higher education. In the constitution, OBCs are described as "socially and educationally backward classes", and government is enjoined to ensure their social and educational development.
In the general category falls the upper cast which has been constituted and categorized by the Government of India. The do not enjoy the same benefit as OBC. |

Re: What is the difference between OBC and general?
OBC Other Backward Classes (OBCs) are defined as people Socially and financially backward other than SC, ST, and FC.
The people who belong Backward Class (BC), Most Backward Class (MBC) and Denotified Community (DCN) are grouped as OBC by central govt and state govt. General category is mainly meant for the community which is socially well developed and financially have good position in economic ladder. |

Re: What is the difference between OBC and general?
well as you know that our country has suffered lot because of the caste and creed problem
the humiliation of lower caste by the upper caste still prevails in some of the areas of our country,so the government of India decided to help them in somewhat manner, they decided that few seats in education and jobs will be reserved for the lower caste so that some of the lower caste people come in and get some job respect in result to which his son or daughter will get chance to study well and again the son son's and daughter will get the same thing.that is why some reservation have been made so that they get a chance and come forward OBC belongs to lower caste, even sc/st general category belongs to upper class. |

General Candidates do not fall under any reservation category. So No Seats are reserved for the general category candidates in any sector. All The Best |

Re: What is the difference between OBC and general?
Dear Friend,
In India there are various categories which are classified depending on the caste off which you belong. Following categories exists- 1- General Candidate 2- OBC (Other Backward Classes). 3- SC (Schedule Caste) 4- ST (Schedule Tribe) Depending upon category there are seats reserved in any Central and State government job. The relaxation begins from OBC and is maximum for SC and ST. Thank You. |
