Can I get Domicile Certificate of West Bengal if I have only passed class 12th from a school in West Bengal but originally belonging to Bihar? What does the Domicile rules says in this regard?

You will have to satisfy domicile certificate eligibility criteria to get domicile certificate of west bengal state though you have passed class 12th from west bengal state. Domicile or Resident Certificate is an important document to prove your resident in west bengal state. One must have domicile certificate for getting benefits of government college admission, reservation category benefits and TFW seat admission in west bengal state. One can apply online for domicile certificate without remitting any fee. After applying, Domicile Certificate will be issued within 7 working days from the date of application. It is valid for a lifetime and doesn't need renewal.

- One must be a resident of west bengal state.
- Whose parent(s) is/are permanent resident of west bengal state.
- Who is residing in west bengal state at least for last 10 years.

Online Application Procedure
- Login on official website : www.edistict.wb.gov.in/PACE/login.do
- Click on Local Residence (Domicile Certificate) option.
- Read instructions and requirements of domicile certificate and click on "Apply".
- Fill the required details in application.
- Attach scanned documents and click on "Save and Next" button.
- On successful submission of application, you will receive an acknowledgement number of application. You can also check the status of your application.
- If application is approved, you can download your domicile certificate online.
