Hi, my age will be 21 years as on 15th September. 2019. Am I eligible to apply and appear for IAS examination? How many attempts would I'll be allowed? What is the standard age criteria? Any relaxation for any caste category candidates?

Yes, you are eligible for appearing in UPSC Civil Services Exam as your age is now 21 years.

As per age criteria defined by UPSC for Civil Services Exam,

• General candidates: 21 to 32 years
• OBC candidates: 21 to 35 years
• SC/ST: 21 to 37 years
• Defenced Service Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities: 21 to 40 years
• PwD: 21 to 37 years

Following number of attempts is offered to candidates as per the criteria.

• General: 6
• OBC: 9
• SC/ST: Unlimited attempts till 32 years of age

The age criteria to apply for the IAS examination ( officially known as the Civil Services examination held by UPSC once every year ) is 21 years to 32 years by the 1st August of that year in which the examination is to be held.
