The age criteria to apply for the IAS examination ( officially known as the Civil Services examination held by UPSC once every year ) is 21 years to 32 years by the 1st August of that year in which the examination is to be held. Further, there is provision of age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

So, having turned 21 years as on 15.09.2019, you are eligible to apply for the Civil Services examination from the next year onwards.

Further, the maximum number of attempts allowed for appearing in the same examination in case of general category candidates is 6 (six) while it is 9 for OBC category candidates. There is no limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST category candidates.
