Hello dear,
Yes, definitely you are eligible to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination to become IAS Officer in future. IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services and is conducted by UPSC every year. You should have a degree to write IAS exam. There are three stages in IAS exams. => Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) => Main Exams => Interview You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below: => upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST. => upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes. If your graduation is complete then you are eligible to apply for this examination next year, then notification is going to be published soon in the month of February and eligible candidates may fill the application form online from the official website. The dates of Next year examination was already updated in the UPSC website. Firstly you have to cracked the preliminary examination, the examination is objective with negative marking, if you cracked this one then you are eligible to appear for main examination. Main examination is descriptive and you have to choose optional subjects for Main examination. After Mains you have to appear for the final Interview. Please wait for the Notification and then fill the application form online, for more details check official website of UPSC. http://upsc.gov.in good luck |

You can choose any graduation course, yet apply for the Civil Service Exam. The Union Public Service Commission has only set the educational requirement to be graduation course. It does not say which graduation course. Therefore feel free to pick BA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech etc whatever you like.
Since you have completed 12th pick a graduation course carefully. I say that because not everyone gets selected for IAS. In fact out of 5 to 10 Lakh students that appear every year, merely 200 to 300 are selected. Therefore It is important that you pick graduation course carefully so if you failed to make the cut, you should still manage to make a good living. This is quite crucial. Now if you go with BA, the best alternative options in case of failing IAS would be B.Ed followed by school teaching job, MA followed by college lectureship and MBA. IAS Eligibility 1. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for IAS, it includes NRIs. 2. Must have a graduation degree in any stream. 3. the age limit is 21 to 30 years as on August 1st of examination year. 4. For SC/ST candidates age limit is relaxed by 5 years. 5. OBC also get relaxation of 3 years. How to Apply The notification of the exam is released in either November and December. This notification contains procedure to apply for IAS Exam including last date of submitting the form. You can find more information on the official website of Union Public Service Commission - http://www.upsc.gov.in |

dear friend, for giving ias exam, the student must have done graduation in any field with atleast 60% marks in average. you do not have to do graduation in any specific field. you can choose any field of your choice. the age limit for the exam is 21 to 30 years which can extend upto 5 more years for sc/st students and upto 3 years for obc students. there will be two exams of ias. preliminary exam and main exam. after passing the preliminary exam only, you will be allowed to give the main exam. best books for ias exam are 1. Indian History - India Struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra; NCERT Books ( XI & XII ) 2. Geography - Spectrum 3. Indian Polity - Constitution of India by Bakshi 4.
